SolarPro is a Chilean company (legal name ESS SpA), not a marketplace or a lead broker. We hold a licence from the Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles (SEC), we sign the TE4 declaration ourselves, and we build with our own crews. That matters if you are a foreign investor evaluating a Chilean asset, a corporate group with operations in Chile, a mining contractor working in the Atacama Desert, or an expatriate resident who wants the same engineering applied to a house.

What we do not do is sell panels to people outside Chile. If you are looking for an installer in your own city, this is not the company for you. Everything below concerns projects physically located in Chilean territory, permitted under Chilean electrical law and connected to a Chilean distribution utility.

Chile as a jurisdiction

The regulatory frame you are buying into

Chilean distributed solar sits on two different regimes, and choosing the wrong one is the most expensive mistake in the whole project. Self-consumption credits energy against your own bill and stops at 300 kW. Distributed generation sells energy to the system and runs to 9 MW. The tax treatment is the same in both cases.

Net Billing — Law 20,571 as amended by Law 21,118

Self-consumption with surplus injection, capped at 300 kW per connection point. The plant is declared to the SEC through form TE4, signed by a licensed electrical installer, and form F6 is filed with the distribution utility for the bidirectional meter. Surpluses are credited against the following bills.

PMGD — Decree 88/2020 and Law 20,571

Above 300 kW and up to 9 MW the route is no longer self-consumption but distributed generation: feeder capacity study, coordination with the Coordinador Electrico Nacional and the option of a stabilised price set every six months by the CNE, or spot price.

19% VAT recoverable and instant depreciation

A company pays 19% VAT on the investment and recovers it as a fiscal credit. The asset can also take the instant depreciation of Article 31 No. 5 bis of the Chilean Income Tax Law, which brings the tax shield forward to year one.

Distribution utilities and grid interface

We file and connect with every Chilean distributor — Enel, CGE, Chilquinta, Saesa and Frontel. Net Billing activation typically takes 2 to 6 weeks after the physical works, depending on the utility.

Tariff selection is the other half of the analysis: an industrial site on a tariff with a capacity charge can see 30% to 50% of its bill come from demand rather than energy, and solar alone does not touch that component. What a commercial and industrial plant costs

Chilean pesos, all-in: engineering, equipment, mounting, construction and SEC filing. The unit price falls with scale because engineering and permitting spread across more Wp. As a pre-feasibility rule, the monthly electricity bill multiplied by 65 approximates the investment required.

For an expatriate resident sizing a house rather than a plant, the residential tiers are 3 kW at CLP $3,900,000, 4 kW at CLP $4,900,000, 5 kW at CLP $5,950,000, 6 kW at CLP $6,540,000, 8 kW at CLP $7,600,000, 10 kW at CLP $8,500,000. Chile is not one solar resource, it is several

Most Chilean solar calculators apply a single national yield factor of roughly 1,150 kWh per kWp per year. That is a simplification that can distort a financial model badly. The figures below are estimated AC yield with optimal tilt, derived from the Explorador Solar of the Chilean Ministry of Energy and the Department of Geophysics of Universidad de Chile (Molina et al., 2017, climatology 2004-2016).

Energy and load study

We measure the real load curve, review the tariff (BT1 to BT4.3, AT4.1 to AT4.3) and test technical feasibility before proposing any capacity.

Engineering

Electrical and structural design, construction drawings, production modelling and the regulatory route: Net Billing under 300 kW, or PMGD above it.

Procurement

Selection and purchase of panels, inverters and mounting structure, all SEC-certified and specified for the site rather than for a catalogue.

Construction

Execution by our own certified crews. Enterprise sites are run under the client’s HSE regime, as accredited with Enel.

Commissioning

Testing, string verification, thermography and system optimisation before handover, with the baseline Performance Ratio recorded.

SEC filing and connection

TE4 declaration to the SEC, F6 with the distributor, bidirectional meter and Net Billing activation — or CNE and CEN coordination for a PMGD.
